As the end of the school year approaches, there are many young people graduating from high school. Likewise, many dogs may be graduating obedience school! It’s an exciting time for everybody
What these two events have in common is that both sets of graduates will be ready to take on the world as grown ups! Whether it’s leaving home for college or sitting your bottom to the floor on command, it’s a big landmark in anybody’s life.
It can, however, get difficult sometimes. An off day can set your whole schedule awry. For some it means a low test grade. For others it means no treat that day.
In either case, the best you can do is to keep on keeping on. Work hard for the next test and listen carefully for the next command.
In the end, it always turns out right. Whether it be a degree or a belly rub, you’ll definitely be top dog
If it itches, you can reach it. And no matter where it itches, no one will be offended if you scratch it in public.
No one notices if you have hair growing in weird places as you get older.
Personal hygiene is a blast: No one expects you to take a bath every day, and you don’t even have to comb your own hair.
Having a wet nose is considered a sign of good health.
No one thinks less of you for passing gas. Some people might actually think you’re cute.
Who needs a big home entertainment system? A bone or an old shoe can entertain you for hours.
You can spend hours just smelling stuff.
No one ever expects you to pay for lunch or dinner. You never have to worry about table manners, and if you gain weight, it’s someone else’s fault.
It doesn’t take much to make you happy. You’re always excited to see the same old people. All they have to do is leave the room for five minutes and come back.
Every garbage can looks like a cold buffet to you.
I’m a little late on the uptake, but tonight I saw the greatest dog movie I’ve seen in a long time.
Now, if you have not seen the movie yet I highly recommend you stop reading this post immediately. The second act you should do is to run, very fast, to the nearest movie rental location and have yourself a nice night in with a bowl of popcorn
To those of you who have already experienced this touching movie, I would like to admit that I did cry.
And not just those silent tears that just slip out. No no no. I was on the brink of bawling.
Every dog owner has felt the love that John Grogan and his family felt for Marley.
For being the “worst dog in the world”, Marley showed true, loyal qualities that we all love in our pets.
Who doesn’t love a dog that waits for your kids to come home from school?
A touching piece about a dog and his family that truly shows the love that connects us all. While still very comedic, Marley and Me captures the hearts of viewers [at least I know it caught my best friend's heart and mine].
So, if you plan on going to watch the movie this weekend, or re-watching it, just for the heck of it, remember that the love you witness is the same love you feel for your pets. Remember to show that love every day. And remember to bring tissues.
Ahhh Spring. The time for flowers to bloom, birds to sing, and little puppies to frolic.
So what to do… what to do…
You can take a trip to a beach or lake near you and have some fun in the water! Try catch in the water, it’s a blast! Just be sure to bring extra towels!
You could go to the park and have a picnic! Bring some premium dog food and water so that there’s no begging. Get a ball or a Frisbee or, heck, just run! Your dog will love the exercise in this nice weather!
Learn a new trick! Try teaching your how to make a circle! [With your dog facing you, take a treat and lead your dog's nose to the right and around your body. Let him follow the treat all the way around behind your back and around to the front. Give your dog the treat and praise him.]
Every dog has a special talent. My pup has the incredible ability of pulling out every bit of stuffing from stuffed animals. [A habit that I'm working on overcoming, I promise.] Some dogs can sing, some can dance, some can even count and do math!
We all know there are giant parades for Mardi Gras. Floats, beads, jokers, masks… the whole shebang.
What we didn’t know is that there is a special Mardi Gras parade.. just for dogs.
That’s right, my fellow pooch lovers. A huge parade. 5 dogs are given the role of the King, Queen, Prince, Princess, and Joker and a parade in their honor is given.
The lucky dogs are voted on by judges based on their Mardi Gras costumes! How fun is that!
However, unless you are in the Lafayette, Louisiana area, you probably won’t be able to witness what an amazing dog show that will be.
Lucky dogs!
But, if you’re like me, and not able to head over there to partake in the parade, you can still have a little fun this week with your pup.
Grab your dog, your friends who have dogs, and whatever Mardi Gras related items as you can and have your own little mini parade right at home!!

Everybody knows the basic tricks and games of the dog world. Sit, down, roll over… But if you want to add a new activity, we’re here to help
Here’s a few ideas to throw into your play-day to have even more fun!
Find The Treat
[This one takes a lot of patience.] Get your dog(s) into a ‘down’ position. Have them stay there while you hide various dog treats around the house, backyard, play area… Make sure they wait until you are finished hiding them!! Return to your dogs and tell them to “GO!” It’ll be like kids Easter egg hunting.
Hide And Seek
The same idea goes for this game, but instead of hiding a dog treat or a dog toy, you hide yourself!!
Bubble Popping
Pretty simple to play, but it’s tons of fun! Just get some bubbles at your local grocery, Walmart, Target and start blowing!! Your dog will have fun chasing the bubbles and popping them, and you’ll have fun just making the bubbles!!
Cups
Get 3 cups and place a treat under one of them. Mix them all up and have your dog nudge the one they think it’s under!
Frisbee
You may think this is just an ordinary game, but with some practice and good behavior, it can be a blast! Just look what this man taught his dog to do!
Be sure, like with all other games, you reward your pets when they get something right or do what you ask of them!
A dog can run up to nineteen miles per hour when running at full speed., but the members of the greyhound family are the fastest, they can run up to 42 miles per hour.
Dogs often hesitate before going out in the rain. It’s not because they’re afraid of getting wet, but because the rain amplifies sound and hurts their sensitive ears.
The average dog has 42 permanent teeth in his mouth.
Small dogs live the longest. Toy breeds live up to 16 years or more. Larger dogs average is
7 – 12 years.
Dogs only have sweat glands on their feet.
Some jokes to smile about
Which side of a dog has the most hair?
-The outside, of course.
What happened when the dog went to the flea circus?
