I LOVE MY BIG BLACK DOG.

In my latest meanderings of the wide web, I have come across an alarming prejudice. It seems, black dogs are the least likely to be adopted. Thankfully, I have also come across much outrage and many attempts to bring awareness to this issue. Why don’t more people take home black dogs? Some reasons cited by other wondering parties include insensitivity to light when photographing black dogs for appraisal, a bad rap in folklore and mythology, and ignorantly associating black dogs with aggression. This prejudice, whether conscious or unconscious, even has a name, “The Black Dog syndrome.” Check out our latest link for more information on it.
My own beautiful black dog is sitting in the living room right now snapping at a hovering fly. And I think, isn’t what we love most about dogs the fact that they never judge us. He’s never once made cracks about me being short or snubbed friends with bright purple hair. He licks and loves everyone without discrimination. I wish we could do the same.

Dogs have so many wonderful qualities I wish we could inject in people.

This is really pretty amazing. I actually had a vet tell me that black dogs are genetically predisposed to more aggressive. He went on to tell me he was inclined to sedate black dogs so he would not get bitten. I was stunned. I thought this was the most ridicules thing I had ever heard. I quickly found a new vet.

I love my big black dogs too! I have two black labs (a male and a female), they are the founding members of my giant pack. They are beautiful, kind hearted, loving, friendly, out going, well behaved and PERFECT! Anyone who lets their preconceived notions about black dogs certainly would miss out on two of the best dogs on the planet. I get them out in public as much as possible so people can see wi their own eyes that the rumors and misconceptions are just that… a big pack of lies!
xx Bless all the big black dogs xx
